If you encounter the below error message while developing app for Windows Phone.
Error Message: “Windows Phone IP over USB Transport (IpOverUsbSvc) is not running. Retry after starting Windows Phone IP over USB Transport (IpOverUsbSvc) from the services management console.”
The cause of the error is that the service “Windows Phone IP over USB Transport (IpOverUsbSvc)” is not running. It is very simple to resolve in error.
Simple header over to services.msc. Look for “Windows Phone IP over USB Transport (IpOverUsbSvc)”, the status should be empty. Right click on it and select Start.
After doing that, try to deploy your app again and it should work fines.

Use the restart option, most likely it is stuck. Is the stop option enabled?

Yes I have windows 10 phone in my pc is Windows 7 during when I install ip over usb installer they adk ip over usb is not running

Could you perform get-service IpOverUsbSvc in powershell to see the status. and do you have the necessary sdk?

in this case, i assume that you have windows 10 mobile sdk.
Simply go to Start menu and search for Windows PowerShell and try to see the status of the service using get-service IpOverUsbSvc

the response I got is this
Get-Service : Cannot find any service with service name ‘IpOverUsbSvc’.

In my services option there is no Windows Phone IpOverUsbSvc option. But it appears when I try to run ipoverusb.msi file, I can start it at that point only but it immidietly stops saying no application to use this service. And Installation fails in between. As soon as installation closes, the Windows Phone IpOverUsbSvc option disappears from Services.

When i right click and click start then it says with pop up: “Windows could not start windows plhone ip over usb transport(IpOverUsbSvc) service on local computer”
Error2:the systerm cannot find the file specified.
where can i find that file and where to install.. please help me out of this. thank you

tricky issue because it didn’t mention which file is missing. Perhaps you could try to unplug your phone and delete the phone from Device Manager and then retry.

i even tried that , i uninstall my phone from portable devices and also universal serial bus controllers.. but couldn’t solve my problem.

how about re-installing the SDK? there are simply too many possibility.

no encuentro el (IpOverUsbSvc) ya estoy cansado con este problema, he buscado uno por uno y no lo puedo encontrar para iniciarlo e intentado con todo y nada, uso un lumia 640 LTE si sabes algo me AYUDAS por favor, ya llevo tiempo con este problema sin ninguna soluciรณn.

yes, i got the same error, u dont hav sufficient privelege to install it seems!!!!! dunno wat to do,account is admin and not std user. any help guys! or does ipverusb insall in win 7 or not?

It will install for Windows 7.
You would have to right click and select “Run as Administrator” if it said that you do not have sufficient privilege. This is a must even though you are using an admin account.
